A Symbol for a Culture that Honors Life
The Women’s Flag was created to express a deeper vision for society — one in which the life-giving role of women is honored and protected.
For generations women have fought for equality under the law. That struggle remains essential. A society cannot claim justice if half the population lacks full legal recognition as equal citizens.
But many women today are asking a deeper question:
What does equality mean inside a culture shaped by domination and violence?
Women are not only seeking equal status within existing systems of power. Women are also calling for a society organized around the protection of life, the nurturing of children, and freedom from violence.
The symbols within the Women’s Flag reflect that deeper vision.
At its center is a downward-pointing triangle, an ancient symbol associated with the feminine and the generative force of life.
Within the triangle appears the Vesica Piscis, one of the oldest sacred geometric forms. It represents the space where two circles meet — the place from which life emerges.
These symbols express a fundamental truth:
Life begins with women.
The flag also includes thirteen stripes, a number long associated with the rhythms of life and the cycles of the moon. A lunar year contains thirteen full moons, and women’s bodies follow a similar rhythm — approximately thirteen cycles each year.
For many early cultures, these cycles symbolized renewal, fertility, and the continuity of human life.
The Women’s Flag draws on these ancient meanings to express a modern principle:
A just society must honor the life-giving role of women and build a culture that protects and nurtures life.
Equality under the law is the foundation.
But the deeper goal is a civilization where the highest social values are care, protection of life, and the dignity of every human being.
The Women’s Flag is meant to be shared by anyone who believes in that vision.
